Final in the last round

In the last round of the GRENKE Chess Open we expect to witness a „grande finale“ between Nikita Vitiugov and Zdenko Kozul. In round eight, Vitiugov convincingly won the top game against Vladimir Fedoseev and leads the table with seven points. Kozul has the same number of points, but the second criteria of the Swiss System puts him on second place.

Fesoseev is getting serious

Vladimir Fedoseev took over the lead after the 7h round and is now sole leader of the GRENKE chess open. The Russian grandmaster beat Nils Grandelius and now at 6,5/7 points. Eight players follow with 6/8 points. Among them is Nikita Vitiugov who is ranked no 1 on the starters list in this tournament.

Four Winners

After the 6th round of the GRENKE chess open 4 players are leading the tournament with 5,5/6. With Richard Rapport, Vladimir Fedoseev und Nils Grandelius we see 3 top grandmaster in this group as well as Meilis Annaberdiev who snug into the group of the leading four players. The International Master from Turkmenistan surprised everyone with a quick win with the black pieces against a much higher rated grandmaster.
